Enjoyed some live music at Arts, Beats & Eats (Sunday September 5, 2010)

Arts Beats and Eats

This is one of the rare times that I venture into a huge crowd, the kind of a crowd where you feel like a sardine and you hope that everyone remembered to shower before they came...thank goodness for the much cooler weather!

William dropped me off just a couple of blocks from where I wanted to be...what a sweetheart! He really did not want to go...at all...he hates maneuvering crowds that tight...and he knows that I really don't mind doing things like this by myself.

Besides, you couldn't park anywhere within a one mile radius and there was no way we were going to leave our new truck parked a few miles away at a high school or at the race track, so we could take the shuttle. Heck no!

So, off I went to look at artwork (which I never did find, because some streets were quite literally SO packed with people that you couldn't get through them) and to take photos, ...and off he went to relax and watch sports on tv...then I called him later to pick me up. Cool!
(We only live a few miles away, anyway.)

And, where else can you see big name bands for only a one-time $3.00 admission fee these days? I have to admit that I really enjoyed it for a little while. I've seen WAR in concert before and I always enjoy them. You just can't help but smile and groove to the tunes! I did! ;-)

WAR was followed by Macy Gray, but I didn't stay for that. Went wandering instead and I could hear from a distance. It was nice to see all the smiling faces for a change, in the midst of this dire Michigan economy.

This is how far back I was. I'm surprised that any of the photos turned out at all. It was literally shoulder to shoulder standing only, so I was holding my camera up over the heads of the people in front of me (I'm only 5'2") LOL. I really like my little digital Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5.

The whole audience was singing "Cisco Kid"!

We did it!

Well, we did it!

I had to make a few phone calls to the Forest River people, because the 2010 model
looked "down-graded" to us (this economy seems to be affecting everything everywhere ...you know ...make it cheaper, charge more). The cupboards look cheap, NOT the real wood cupboards that were in the 2009 model we liked and the color was different, some kind of brown plastic panel stuff where the raised wood used to be. Also, the fabric in the 2010 is a hideous (in my opinion) geometric pattern (like something out of a bad 1960's movie). The people at the Forest River manufacturer in Indiana told me that they could not give us the same fabric and cupboards that we liked in the 2009 model and put them in our new 2010 model that they had yet to build. I kept asking them "why NOT?!"...until they finally relented and gave me the phone number of their Michigan rep (Jerry Connor)...much to his surprise, not to mention the surprise of the guys at our local dealership. Long story short, the rep was very nice, returned my call exactly when he said he would and managed to "find" the 2009 fabric and cupboards to install in our 2010. YAY! They are also going to install a fuel station, which could be very convenient when we're "boondocking", and I have them checking on the possibility of installing an overhead fan in the bedroom, because they don't usually come that way in travel trailer toy haulers, but, even with the air conditioning, I don't handle the heat very well, so hopefully they can do it.

On July 23rd we went back to the General RV dealership to see our new pals (and super nice people!)... Bob (our sales guy) and Mike (the sales manager) and Brian (the money guy) and we put our deposit down. Our 30 foot long, 2010 Forest River Work-and-Play Travel Trailer Toy Hauler is being built right now and will be delivered in five to six weeks, give or take a few days to work any kinks out. We're so excited!
