In a previous post, I said that I would share this note from my Dad with you.
Here it is...
Note from Dad - June 16, 2011:
I'm back from Dr. Worden's, and the news is not too good. The cancer has spread to a number of areas including both of my lungs and to my liver -- but I am feeling no pain except what I had already been experiencing in my right arm and in my two legs. I am coping with those pains by using Morphine and Norco, and I am enjoying life on a daily basis.
The blood work shows that my liver and other organs are working as normal, and the cancer that shows up in my lungs and in my liver is quite small. There is a lot more good liver than bad, and the portion of lungs that is affected is still small.
This news just makes me want to do more fun things faster -- like go to the casino more frequently, take an ocean cruise, get the book selling faster, and finish writing my sentence-diagramming book. I want to have everything set right for Lorraine so that she won't be left with a lot of unfinished projects. I am still very positive about everything, and I want to enjoy life with even more zest.
Instead of 115 years, I might have to back down to 113.
I'm tired and am going to take a nap right now.
Love Ya,
DAD

Yes, that's a great attitude, but it makes me sad. IO lost my dad almost 25 years ago and I still miss him. My whole world changed when he left. Tell your dad those things you need to NOW. God bless all of you.
ReplyDeleteHe is an example for all of us. Life isn't always fair and sometimes it hands us things that make it difficult to cope but attitude is everything and your Dad is an amazing example of how we should all live our lives. You are very blessed to have him as a father!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and courageous Father you have. I hope I have that kind of attitude and courage should I ever find myself in the same situation.
ReplyDeleteYour Dad reminds me of my Dad years ago when he was battling cancer as well. Good for your Dad in keeping up his positive attitude.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great guy he seems to be. Day by day.
ReplyDeleteMary Ann, your Father is a wonderful man...how can I tell? He has a lovely, open and honest daughter who treasures him! Please give him a big hug and kiss from this old English Major who also still diagrams sentences. When he finishes his book, will you publish a link? There are so few people who understand diagramming...I would dearly treasure a copy of his work.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck and may he continue to feel good! On my prayer list!
Your Dad sounds like a fighter and that is good, I lost my younger brother to Cancer and I wish he would have been more of a fighter. He has a great attitude and lets hope a lot more time left. Our prayers are with him. Sam & Donna.
