News excerpt from KRISTV.com:
Today's winds caused a lot of damage across the Coastal Bend.
The wind also caused problems for the folks over at the Sandpiper Hotel near Port Aransas. Around 11:00 am, wind gusts caused the bricks on the north side of the hotel to fall off the building. The large bricks fell several stories and completely destroyed three employee vehicles. The Sandpiper Hotel management says that the "freak occurance" caused $1,000,000 in damage. The bricks also landed on a transformer, reducing the hotel's power output to half. Several guests were relocated to other hotels on the island, while hotel staff deals with the damage.
No one was hurt.

The Sanpiper is just a mile down the road from us! The winds were as strong as 75 miles per hour at one point! Needless to say we didn't sleep much.
