Getting "butterflies"...

The time seems to be just flying by!...and there's so much yet to do! (been very busy with other things lately) Yikes!
All the bedding, towels, much of our bathroom stuff, silverware and other cooking utensils (real and plastic), dishes, glasses (all plastic, paper or Corel, except for a couple of favorite mugs for our tea and coffee), cleaning supplies, tools, hoses, chairs, fishing gear, and some other things I can't recall at the moment...are IN the trailer where they belong. Still have to finish packing the clothes, a few office supplies & paperwork, a few books, computer, camera and other electronic gadgets and charging cords, batteries & flashlights, cooler, the Harley, the bicycles....and ...well, hopefully we will be ready to hit the road next week. Our very first trip! We're still trying to decide if we will actually need the generator or not, and we will probably not stock any food other than all my cooking spices, until we arrive at our destination and get all hooked up.

Checking it out again today, "walk-through" tomorrow...

We rode the bike out to General RV so William could ride it up into the trailer's "garage" to measure for the tie-downs. A few things we're not too happy about (I'll write in more detail about everything another time), but, we'll know more tomorrow after the "walk-through" which they told us would take about three hours. Then we get to bring our "second home" home! :-)

We did it!

Well, we did it!

I had to make a few phone calls to the Forest River people, because the 2010 model
looked "down-graded" to us (this economy seems to be affecting everything everywhere ...you know ...make it cheaper, charge more). The cupboards look cheap, NOT the real wood cupboards that were in the 2009 model we liked and the color was different, some kind of brown plastic panel stuff where the raised wood used to be. Also, the fabric in the 2010 is a hideous (in my opinion) geometric pattern (like something out of a bad 1960's movie). The people at the Forest River manufacturer in Indiana told me that they could not give us the same fabric and cupboards that we liked in the 2009 model and put them in our new 2010 model that they had yet to build. I kept asking them "why NOT?!"...until they finally relented and gave me the phone number of their Michigan rep (Jerry Connor)...much to his surprise, not to mention the surprise of the guys at our local dealership. Long story short, the rep was very nice, returned my call exactly when he said he would and managed to "find" the 2009 fabric and cupboards to install in our 2010. YAY! They are also going to install a fuel station, which could be very convenient when we're "boondocking", and I have them checking on the possibility of installing an overhead fan in the bedroom, because they don't usually come that way in travel trailer toy haulers, but, even with the air conditioning, I don't handle the heat very well, so hopefully they can do it.

On July 23rd we went back to the General RV dealership to see our new pals (and super nice people!)... Bob (our sales guy) and Mike (the sales manager) and Brian (the money guy) and we put our deposit down. Our 30 foot long, 2010 Forest River Work-and-Play Travel Trailer Toy Hauler is being built right now and will be delivered in five to six weeks, give or take a few days to work any kinks out. We're so excited!

New blogger here...(advice? suggestions? please)

We're new to blogging here, so it may take a little while to get the ball rolling. Thought it would be a good idea to learn how to use this website before we start our travels sometime in the late fall or early winter. Looks like there's a LOT to learn, like how to upload photos, videos and such.
William doesn't care to use the computer except to look at what I pull up on it occasionally, so I'll be doing the posting. Thank you in advance for your patience. I'll try to stay as up to date as possible. We haven't even bought the RV yet, so we are truly starting this adventure at the very beginning. So far, we have looked at (and liked very much) a 2009 Forest River "Work and Play" Travel Trailer Toy Hauler...but it was sold while we've been dealing with some health issues, so now the dealer says that he can have a 2010 built for us, but we don't know yet.
Have to see the new specs first.
